In Griechenland selbst aber ist dieser Tanz nicht unbedingt so wichtiq und wird eher als eine touristische Angelegenheit betrachtet. Die Idee so cin Stick zu schreiben kam von den ewigen Trink-Sitzungen_in ¢iner qriechischen Taverne [in Berlin-Kreuzberg) nach den unermidlichen Proben des Berliner Gitarrenquartetts. Es werden vier Spieler, vier Glaser und eine Flasche Malamatina bendtigt (zur Not geht auch ein anderer Wein) Das Stick erzahit, wie die Spieler, bei lusfiger Musik, gegenseitiq mehrmals anstoPen und gegen Ende nicht mehr ganz bei der Sache sind.. obwohl der allerletzte Schluss doch noch kiappt. Sirtaki is a dance which became world-famous through the film “Zorbas the Greek”. In Greece itself however, this dance is not particularly important and is viewed more as a tourist attraction. The idea to write such a piece derives from the eternal drinking sessions in a Greek tavern lin Berlin- Kreuzberg) atfer the never-ending rehearsals of the Berlin Guitar Quartet. Four players, four glasses and one bottle of Malamatina are required (a bottle of a ditterent wine may be substituted if necessary}. The piece converses, as do the players, to amusing music, with frequent clinking of glasses and towards the end no longer quife as concentrated on the task at hand, .. and yet the very last ending does succeed. Nach einem Diplom am Konservatorium von Pesaro, das er mit 17 Jahren ableqte, ging er nach Berlin, wo er an der Hochschule tur Musik ¢in zweites Diplom erwarb. Zusétzlich studierte er Komposition bei Heinz Friedrich Hartig. In den Jahren 1969 bis 1992 unterrichtete er an der Hochschule fir Musik in Berlin, zwischen 1977 und 1980 war er allerdings in Istanbul, wo er als Dozent tar Gitarre am dortigen Konservatorium wirkte. Domeniconi schrieb zahlreiche Werke fr verschiedene Soloinstrumente, Kammermusik und Orchester Schwerpunkte seines Schattens sind die bis heute enistandenen zehn Konzerte fur Gitarre bezichungsweise zwei Gitarren und Orchester sowie seine Arbeiten fur Gitarre solo und Gitarrenduo. Begeqnungen mit indischen und turkischen Musiktormen und Tonsystemen gaben seinen Kompositionen cine individuelle Farbung, und sie beeinflussten die Bildung eines unverwechselbaren Personaistils, Domeniconis Werke werden heute weltweit von international namhatten Virtuosen autgetahrt. Carlo Domeniconi Carlo Domeniconi was born at Cesena, Italy, in 1947. He began to study quitar with Carmen Mozzani at the age of 13, Having obtained a diploma trom the Pesaro Conservatory when he was only 17 years old, he went to Berlin where he gained a second diploma under the quidance of Erich Burger He went on to study composition as well and held a lecturing post at the College of Arts [Hochschule der Kinste] in Berlin from 1969 to 1992. At one stage [1977 to 1980], he taught quitar at the Istanbul Conservatory. Domeniconi wrote numerous pieces tor solo instruments, chamber music and orchestral works. His output includes 10 concertos fer quitar and orchestra as well as various compositions for solo quitar and chamber music combinations including the quitar Owing to his familiarity with Indian, Turkish and Arab musical forms and tonal systems, he was able to endow his works with a highly distinctive idiom and to develop 0 personal style entirely his own.
