1) The biology class at Mount Greylock High School recently finished reviewing cell structure and communication and will be moving on to studying respiration, photosynthesis, and the carbon cycle.
2) Important exams are scheduled for November 28th on cellular energy, December 8th on cell cycles, and December 22nd on genetics.
3) Students have been learning about topics through activities like creating informational posters and pamphlets about cell structures and modeling examples of cell signaling using play-doh and markers.

What have we been doing?
Overview: Students have reviewed biochemistry and cell structure. We are finishing up the cell communication concept this week and we will be going through respiration and photosynthesis the next week and a half before Thanksgiving break. In December we will be covering cell cycles (mitosis and meiosis) and genetics to set us up for the evolution unit at the start of the new year. Activities: Students completed a fun cell campaign where they researched one cell structure and created posters, pamphlets, and speeches explaining why their organelle was the best organelle. They have also been modeling examples of cell signaling using Play-doh and Expo markers and describing these models to their classmates. Check out: Under Class Files will be examples of posters and pamphlets that the students created for their cell campaign. The winner will be posted on the website later this week.
