ASPECTS THAT ITS STUDENTS NEED TO FACE AEC

ASEAN Ecomomic Community or usually we call as AEC is a very important event

for all ASEAN countries, this event can be the stepping stone for the country where the
ASEAN countries can develop their economic country condition, but not just from economic
sector that will be integrated in AEC by ASEAN countries but also cover about politic and
security sector and then social and culture sector will be integrated too in AEC. This
community built to make ASEAN countries develop by equalizing aim of all ASEAN
countries to make these countries prosperous, unite and care each ASEAN countries. But on
the other hand this AEC is a competition because all of the products of these ASEAN
countries free to get in and get out to other ASEAN countries, for the country whos not ready
for this competition or unprepared will be trempled and left behind to the other country.
So as early as we can we must make a change for this country to face AEC, its too late we
know if we just know AEC in present because its almost coming which in 2015, but we still
have a time if we want and if we struggle for this change to make our country better. First we
must plant an identity to this nation, because without identity someone is become
unknown, not valuable, doesnt have a unique etc, moreover a nation or country. This nation
need to know their identity as Indonesian which based on Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and
Pancasila its important to apply the value of that like unity and sense of kinship and
belonging each other, where we have to support each other, protect each other without
discrimination and not become an enemies each other just because a little argument about
comparise their city from as always happen in this country. In fact its true that the feel of
nationality is already faded in this country. We dont know who are we, this nation is proud to
wear foreign product, to buy stuff that made from other counry etc. Thats why we need to
replant our feel of nationality, untiy and sense of kinship and belonging each other to make
this country become great country and have very prosperous people.
Indonesia is the largest country in south east asia (ASEAN) beside that the human
resource in Indonesia is the largest too in south east asia, so Indonesia shoul be the country
that can take the advantage and benefit from this AEC and further we can make Indonesia
become great country and have prosperous people inside. Moreover this country has a rich
natural resource everywhere start from agriculture, forestry, mining and rich of marine or sea
products, these all available in Indonesia even can make another countries jealous to what we
have, but until this time we still cant utilize these present and favor from the god in form of

rich natural resource maximally, so as the result this country still cant be a great country
moreover we still behind Singapore that just have land as large
as DKI Jakarta Province in many aspects. Why all of these problem can occur with the
country which is rich of all natural resource? Maybe the answer is because this country too
lazy to study, very lack of gratitude to the god with what we have, instead we want to copy or
imitate other country where we should be the role model to the other countries. Thats why the
identity is important, to remember that we are Indonesian, the country which is have
everything that we need inside of these country and we can make benefit and advantage from
all of it.
Because of that to all elements (government, citizens and college students) of this
country to support each other to make a change to this country for better condition of
Indonesia. If one of these elements against others it will make the hope to make Indonesia
better will lose. Especially here me and my friends as the college students of Tenth Nopember
Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya which is famous as Kampus Perjuangan (Campus
of Struggle) the college students is suppose to struggle for improvement of almamater and
country. How college student can make influence for improvement for this nation? College
student that the notabene as the intelectual community in the society and as the successor
generation of this nation later will be the hope for this country, but on the other hand until this
time maybe there still a college student that dont know about what is AEC, this not because
the lack of notifications, due to the informations and news about this AEC is everywhere, this
thing happen is because the college students are dont care with suc that thing like up to date
news, issue that develop in society, etc. The lack of curiosity is the cause of this thing happen,
if college students have a grea curiosity it can bring them to make them care with such this
thing, so beside the college students have an identity as an Indonesian nation its need to plant
too the curiosty and awareness to care about this country and maybe we can start that with
grow the interest of reading to the college students, so with reading we will know anything,
everthing, everywhere, anywhere. We can read from newspaper, internet etc. After we have
these aspects (dentity, curiosity and awareness to care) I think these should be enough to start
movement of college students for the general and ITS students specially to make a change for
Indonesia, of course with assisted with another softskills to smooth this step for Indonesia
and the nation. VIVAT!!!
