My name is Angela Jones, science teacher at El Capitan High School, and I am writing a letter of
recommendation for Mayra Cruz Gonzalez for all college admissions and scholarships that she is
applying for. She is a former student in my Life Science, Environmental Science, and Genetics
courses. In addition, she was an academic mentor that provided translation services during 11th
grade. I have known Mayra all four years of high school and would describe her as being responsible,
independent, and a motivated student.
Mayra has participated in numerous activities in school. For example, she has been an academic
mentor for the last 3 years, participated in a Feed the Homeless activity, and a current member of
ECHS Student Leadership team. In addition, she is currently taking two classes, Psychology and
Sociology, at Merced College. Her current GPA is a 3.3.
After graduation, Mayra will be attending a 4-year college/university to obtain a BA degree. Her
career goal is to become a Nurse.
I recommend that you consider Mayra Cruz Gonzalez for any college admissions and scholarships
she is applying for. She is a dedicated student at El Capitan High School.
