General Focus of Plan: Increasing second semester grades through the Iowa Common Core
Specific Goal(s) for each individual class you teach:
From first semester to second semester, 75% of core English students will increase their second semester
grade by 3% percentage points.

Connection to the needs of the teacher, the Iowa teaching standards, and the student achievement goals of the
building and the school district:
Teacher will align essential learning outcomes, essential assessments, specific assessments and analyze
assessment data
Iowa Teaching Standards: All 8
Student Achievement Goal: 75% of core English students will increase their second semester grade by
by 3 percentage points.
Proposed Strategies / Activities:
PLC: Work collaboratively to align 9-12 LA through Common Core, essential learning outcomes, and
common assessments to increase English students scores
Collaboratively review assessment data to continually monitor scores
More specifically, the ELA teachers will collaboratively do the following:
Compare first semester percentage with second semester percentage for students who completed a full
year of English core classes.
Utilize core study halls and collaborate with other teachers in the department to make sure that all students
increase their achievement.
Address specific students that raise concerns.
Continuously revisit SMART goal throughout our PLC time.
