PA Training Notes

- Components
Mixer - needs high load keyboard stand
Active Speaker - different from old PA, needs power
- Connection
Mixer Main Out -> XLR -> Speaker In 1
Mixer Aux Out -> Jack -> Speaker In 1
- TURN ON ORDER
Phantom -> Mixer Power -> Spk/Mon
- Speaker / Monitor levels can be set to about half
- Microphones & Mic Placement
Vocal - round top
Instrument - flat top - trumpet, sax, guitar amp, percussion
Condenser - little silver - piano, drum overheads, cymbals, acoustic
guitar
Bass - big ball - bass drum, bass amp, cajon back, congas bottom
- Other Connections
Keys - stereo channel
Bass Amp - DI
iPod / Phone - 2-track
- Set gain to 0 before connecting or disconnecting a microphone
- Setting Channels
Gain (Sensitivity) - Solo / level meter, clip light at bottom (Pre-Fader
Listen)
Low-Cut - removes rumble
EQ
Aux.
FX - post, not pre
Main
Mute
- Subgroups - uses for kit, vocals, etc. probably never used
- Aux - for monitors - remember to set main monitor level too
- DFX processor
- EQ
- Talkback - mic to aux
