to investigate personal ideas through the art-making process.

Resources: popsicle sticks; white frosting; red, blue, and yellow food dye; small plastic dixie
cups; plastic spoons; Styrofoam plates; graham crackers
Process:
1. Teach the color wheel lesson before or while doing this activity. Model for the students or
have them work along with you as you model.
2. Have students get a plate, 3 sticks, 3 dixie cups half full of frosting. Add a few drops of
each food dye into the cups. You should have one blue frosting, one yellow, and one red
after mixing the dye into the frosting.
3. Have students mix colors together to make secondary colors.
4. They can then mix primary with secondary to make tertiary colors.
5. Give each student 2 graham crackers and have them use popsicle sticks to make
drawings/paintings on their graham crackers using the colored frosting.
6. Take pictures then allow them to be eaten
