After searching for a suitable backing soundtrack to suit our production Dear
Mum, we finally decided on a piano instrumental in which we all agreed would
best suit our dramatic and emotional production.

Above, is the music we have decided to use in our production. Our director took
the time to our main actress. We recognised the way in which the tempo and the
melody of the soundtrack would suit the voiceover of our main actress. We
understood that we needed something slow paced and as emotional as the
words included in our voiceover. Due to the soft touch of a piano, it added to the
emotional aspect of the music and suited our production more than any other
soundtracks or instrumentals we found.
We have decided to use voiceover during the whole of our production and not
include any diegetic dialogue, this is because we believed that it would have
more of an effect on the audience than anything else, we believed that it could
allow our audience to connect with the characters in the film, therefore creating
the tense and emotional atmosphere we aspired.
