ABSTRACT

Interior design is a serious and multifaceted profession that includes

conceptual development, space planning and wise utilization, site visitation as for
communicating with stakeholders of a project, construction management, and
execution of architectural interior designs and their furnishings. It is an art and
science of altering spaces to meet the needs of the people that will utilize it
wherein, the designer may work on a project from the initial planning stage or
may work on remodelling of an existing structure. In the study, San Juan
Childrens Center was chosen to be the main subject to work on, in which the
latter process was successfully executed. The main objectives were to identify
the needs for renovation of the interior to achieve a better environment for
learning of students and teachers and to further improve and develop interior
designs utilizing the modern-minimalist style. The experience of interior space
was shaped through the manipulation of spatial volume as well as the surface
treatment for the betterment of user functionality. Several rooms and buildings
were subjected to careful analysis as principals office, library room, computer
room, canteen, faculty lounge, auditorium, hallways and classrooms. The
proponent redesigned them from strategic one through giving emphasis on
planning of functional design and arranging basic layout of spaces within a
building that require an understanding of technical issues such as window,
acoustics, interior furniture and decorations and even lighting. However, the
safety and comfort of students, teachers and all staffs of San Juan Childrens
Center are the top priorities on executing designs and school interiors style.
