Encouraged local organizations and NGOs to participate in a fun filled day for a good cause.

Report
On October 8th GVI held its annual raft race in the bay of Ternay. With a record attendance of 13
teams from NGOs, local businesses, the Seychelles National Parks Authority (SNPA) and 3 teams
from GVI fun and chaos abound.

With each of the staff members reaching out to the environmentally aware companies around Mah
a diverse group of people arrived at the base to partake in the days events. Each team was

comprised of 4 team members and many, many friends and family cheering for them on the beach
and other watercraft.

With so many people and so much at stake everyone gave it their all; in doing so everyone had a
hearty appetite. After the completion of the race we fired up the BBQ with the help of SNPA. The
remainder of the day was held up at base camp. The base was alive with people from all over the
island and everyone mingled well. Making new connections and friendships the day was a great
success.

While everyone had a great day, the main goals where not forgotten. With so many teams entering
the race, and buying lunch on the day, we were able to raise much-needed funds for Presidents
Village. Waiting on the whish list from the kids and the much needed list from the staff, its going
to be a great Christmas for the orphans this year.

While none of the GVI teams won, SNPAs team retained their title, we where able to win the Most
Creative raft category; to the cheers of all staff and volunteers.

Thanks to everyone who took part in this years event and we look forward to seeing you all again
next year!
