Primary Sources
1. The first primary source I found from the Library of Congress is about
Thanksgiving. It shows a great painting or picture about the first
Thanksgiving in 1621. Also has great photos of pilgrims. This would be
a great topic to talk about when discussing the season of Autumn. I
would use this in the classroom when bringing up the fall season and
what happens during this season.
2. The second source I found is about baseball. It gives the sheet music to
the song Take Me Out to the Ball Game. I think singing and teaching
the students this song would be a great way to introduce the season of
spring. Showing that baseball happens during the Spring will help
students become more engaged in learning about Spring. What child
doesnt like baseball and singing?
3. The third source I found are pictures and articles about the Mayflower.
This would be another great subject to tie into the lesson of Autumn
and when these great events took place. Teaching the students about
the significant events that have made America what it is today will
help them distinguish when it happens if it is taught around the same
time as teaching a season. It will help them remember much easier
and be able to put two and two together.
