To Whom It May Concern:
Thave worked with Madison Minor for the past seven years. I have seen Madison teach
both second and sixth grades. Regardless of the grade level of her students, Madison
has always integrated technology seamlessly into her lessons.
In my role as an Instructional Technology Coach, I see a variety of approaches for
teachers using technology in classrooms. All over the world many educators fall into a
trap of looking for the “new tool” they can use to plan a lesson around. Madison
approaches her lessons by focusing first on what the students need to learn and then
looks for a way that technology can be used seamlessly as a platform for learning.
Madison is extremely motivated and the epitome of a life-long learner. She is constantly
updating her Professional Learning Network and follows several educational blogs.
Madison has invited me to collaborate and plan technology rich lessons with her
numerous times. She has asked me to model new strategies for her students, coteach a
variety of lessons, as well as help plan literacy stations using her promethean board as a
center for small group instruction. She is extremely innovative and not afraid to try
something new.
Her classroom is the ultimate picture of the 21* century learning environment. Her
students use activotes as formative assessment tools which she uses to drive
instruction, Her second graders used a digital story telling tool to showcase their
learning of goods and services. Her students also use technology daily in a variety of
ways to help support her Language Arts block, which is modeled after The Daily Five
concepts. Madison's students have also entered the GCSD Technology Fair for the past
four years.
Mark van Doren stated, "The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery.” Madison
Minor has been influencing students, teachers, and administers with discovery upon
arrival in the Georgetown County School District. I am excited to see how much further
her assistance will spread.
Respectfully,
MTA.
