Law and Justice in a Globalizing World
(3 Credits)

Course objectives:
This course aims at introducing the contemporary themes and debates in the field of
dispensation of justice in modern globalizing world in the national as well as international
perspective. It has been designed to understand and analyze the purposes of law and the
possibilities of its ensuring the basic and inalienable rights to each one living in the society. The
students will be provided with the theoretical and philosophical literature advanced by various
scholars to provide insight into the fundamental themes along with sub themes relating to the
concepts of law and justice delivery in the modern globalizing world, such as Human Rights
Mechanisms, International Trade Law, Right to Food, Shelter, Education etc. . The endeavour is
to facilitate them to empathise and engross into the findings of the alternative and viable clues to
solve contemporary legal and social maladies perpetrating in todays society.

Course Evaluation:
Research paper and oral defence: 30 marks (20 + 10)
Mid semester tests/Response Paper/s: 20 marks
End semester examination: 50 marks.

C. Right to Marriage and Family
(Concepts of Family, NRI Marriages, Surrogacy, Reproductive Health)
D. Right to Environment
(Protection and Preservation of Environment, Sustenance, Equity, Climate
Change, Ozone Depletion, Carbon Credits)
E. International Banking and Trade Law
(Globalization and WTO, Regional Organizations, International Arbitrations,
International Investment Disputes Settlement)
F. International Human Rights Law
(International Mechanisms to implement Human Rights, International Norm
Making, Impact of Human Rights on Domestic Law)
G. Global Poverty and Inequality
(Right to Food, Shelter, Employment, Aadhar- Indian and Global Perspective)
