To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Desiree Benson. I am studying to be a major in English and Literature. I plan on
going to Western Carolina University next year to get a Masters degree in Literature and to
become a professor.
My topic for my project is to show that gender roles do matter. Ill be making a photo album
of how kids react to shopping in the opposite gender section. In my paper, I will be talking about
how parents should push their kids to not believe that a certain toy is for just boys, or a certain
clothing is for just girls.
I will be taking a photo of each kid, upon permission from the parents, with their reaction
on them being taken into a different section that is for just boys or just girls. I will be taking
a picture of their reaction when they actually try out the stuff. Then, I will ask them how they felt
after the whole experience.
I know that many kids and parents have been raised to shop in the section that is for them in
particular. With that being said, it might be slightly challenging to get the parents to go with this
kind of project.
Many parents might say no, but I am hoping that this will make people realize that they don't
have to get things that they don't want, just because society says so. That is why Im starting with
the new generation. Hopefully, this experience sticks with them for a long time, and theyll raise
their kids to be the way they want to be.
Plagiarism is bad because it is taking credit for someone elses work, while all you did was
copy and paste. Your work should be the work that is shown. Individuality is key when it comes
to creating your own products.
Thank you Graduation Committee for taking the time to read my proposal letter.
Sincerely,

Desiree L. Benson
