Coking coal: it is the type of coal which is used for the production of

metallurgical coke. When metallurgical coke is heated in the absence of air it

forms hard mass.
Coking coal is found in almost different countries:
1) Australia (almost 80%coking coal sells)
2) Other countries( canada ,USA,newzealand,russia,china)-(sells rest 20%
coking coal)
In India coking coal contains 22% ash where as in foreign countries it
contains 9% ash. Therefore coking coal of India is called low grade where as
outside countries it is called high grade.
Types of coking coal:
1) Prime
2) Medium
3) Blend or poor coking coal
