New Directions: Warming and Cooling Center
o New Directions is a homeless center in Jacksonville,
IL. During my time volunteering their, my tasks
included serving meals, assigning chores, monitoring
reentry into the facility, checking in new residents,
resolving issues, providing medicine, and promoting
events.

Jacksonville Police Department


o While interning for the local police department, I was
not assigned specific tasks. Instead, I accompanied
the officers on-duty while they were on patrol. Patrol
refers to responding to dispatch calls. I was able to
shadow during my experience and watch how the
officers handle each situation.

Research
Illinois College Innovations Center
o The Illinois College Strategy Map Innovation
Center Working Group needed more information
about providing Illinois College with an
innovation center. My research partner and I
conducted preliminary research on the subject.
Initially, the research consisted of developing a
definition for the term innovation center. Once
the term was defined, we developed two short
surveys; one was aimed at the faculty members,
while the other was geared towards the
students. 196 surveys were collected. Another
method of data collection included a focus
group. Eleven students provided insight on
student requests and ideas for the potential
center. The data was given to and utilized by the
