He has received awards from the Consejo, Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (1983) and from the Social ‘Science Research Council (1987), among others. His contributions to the history of Latin American thought include several edited volumes, such as José Ingenieras: antimperialismo y nacién (México, Siglo XI, 3979) and América Latina: positivismo y nacién (México, Ed. Katén, 1983).
