University of Maryland at College ParkOscar Terdn (Argentina, 1938) studied at the Universidad de Buenos
Aires, where he presently teaches, and at the Universidad Nacional
‘Auténoma de México. He has received awards from the Consejo,
Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (1983) and from the Social
‘Science Research Council (1987), among others. His contributions to
the history of Latin American thought include several edited volumes,
such as José Ingenieras: antimperialismo y nacién (México, Siglo XI,
3979) and América Latina: positivismo y nacién (México, Ed. Katén,
1983). Oscar Terdn’s most renowned books are Discutir Maridtegui
(Universidad Auténoma de Puebla, 1985), En busca de la ideologla
argentina (Buenos Aires, Catilogos, 1986), and Alberdi péstumo
