Multiple Intelligences and Geography
Activity 1
Standard: 2.G.1.1 Construct and explain a map that includes directions, labels and
a key.
Gardners MI: Visual/Spatial
Activity: Using given materials, students will create a map of the classroom. The
map can include drawings or pictures cut from magazines. The map must include
directions, labels and a key.
Activity 2
Standard: 3.G.1.2 Locate the seven continents, four oceans and major physical
features and regions of the United States on a map or a globe.
Gardners MI: Logical/Mathematical
Activity: Students will choose a major physical feature in the United States
(example: Great Plains). Students will partner up and begin playing Guess Where.
This game is similar to the board game Guess Who. Students will ask logical yes or
no questions to investigate which physical feature their partner has chosen. Using
the process of elimination, students will narrow down the options and recognize
which feature their partner has.
Activity 3
Standard: 4.G.2.1 Compare and contrast regions of South Dakota to one another
Gardners MI: Interpersonal
Activity: Students will become experts about the region of the state we live in and
will video chat via Skype with schools from a different region. This activity will take
place over a period of time. Students will compare and contrast the regions they
live in with the region the Skype School is from using a Venn Diagram.
