The purpose of the review was to determine whether she should be re- appointed. Everyone agreed that she should be. Accordingly, with Program criteria as the guide, that is the recommendation. (Parenthetically, her portfolio was a work of art. Itwas as though you were entering a theatrical production.) In the area of teaching, all commented on her heavy teaching load and the very positive student evaluations. And she developed a new course. One reviewer wrote that he personally observed that she developed a very good rapport with members of the Stee! Magnolias cast. And the production itself turned out well.” At the same time, concern was expressed about excessive absences at least one semester and about not getting materials (for example, syllabi) out to students in a timely manner on a consistent basis. Accomplishments in the area of scholarship/creative activity, while commendable in some ways, seemed to be the most modest of the three areas. Reflecting the comments of one of her reviewers, she might seek more involvement in acting, directing, designing, or writing at a professional level—striving to go beyond the level of community/amateur theatre. Moreover, it was noted that “we need more published information about educational drama by Deaf theatre for youth professionals such as Ms. Lundquist. She is very knowledgeable and experienced in this area—the world needs access to this information. This also includes formal presentations at theatre conferences.” Service seems to be Cheryl Lundquist’s strongest area. As one reviewer observed, “She is very committed to the University, Department, and community.” Her contributions have been clear. Her partnership with the Lucy School, for example, was noted as valuable because it puts the Program “in a direct pipeline to a professional theatre for youth school for our students to visit, observe, and participate.” In closing, | know very well that Professor Lundquist has experienced a series of personal mishaps that have delayed her from getting everything to us to review and delayed the submission of this review. At the same time, what has happened here may be symptomatic of a broader concern about punctuality and meeting deadlines--which has been observed, This kind of behavior should be addressed. Also, the hope is that Ms. Lundquist give even more attention to mapping out her professional goals for each academic year. And, finally, the hope is that someone takes her under his/her wing—that is, acts as a mentor-- to help offer guidance in the years ahead as she grows professionally. One observer noted that she has shown a marked willingness to take on more responsibilities; but, | can add that, without help, she may bo simply set up to fail. cn Section IX: Recommendations ner eens Based on this evaluation and the criteria for personnel actions summarized above, the following action is recommended: (Check where appropriate) X__ Reappointment Non-reappointment Tenure Dismissal Merit Increase; (Number Points Earned: ) Promotion to new Rank: cor rb Perse tm B/S Faculty member comments (optional): Page 14 of a Sean Faculty Membg Dato Merefy Il 20S (is stn Beals agit ep eS ale lelgnlad by he Daan wl prpale and ane DUD Que cea mamber's scnature does net ee Indleate oy na ae of tie evaliaton,
