Understanding your purpose in writing and how to effectively reach your audience and
portray your topic
Gather citations (references) that would support your purpose according to who your
focus audience is
Understand what makes a genre fit into that specific genre and how to adapt to that in
your own writing
Learn to adapt in order to benefit your writing

Critical Reading:

Use reading as a way to discover something new


Analyze others work as well as your own and evaluate authors style
Find and refer to other works used to support your writing
Use a variety of support to benefit and strengthen your work depending on what audience
youre trying to reach or the purpose of your writing

Composing Processes

Experiment with different processes and strategies for writing


Learn to expand and strengthen ideas from group discussions, arguments etc.

Knowledge of Conventions

Define features of a genre and explain why they are specific to the genre they are
associated with
Perfect your grammar, punctuation and spelling through a revising process (looking over
your work)

Be comfortable and confident in your own writing style, technique and processes
