Sculpture Artist Statement

My partner, AJ and I, found a common interest among bikes; we both like to bike.
With this common interest, we utilized the form of a bike, leaving the wheels so that
they could turn, we created a sculpture to demonstrate our theme of velocity.
Deriving our ideas from the artist Mike Quellier, we wanted to show movement and
speed through our sculpture. AJ and I found that this form of art was harder for the
both of us than other forms such as painting or charcoal, however, we did enjoy it.
Although it was more difficult, we did enjoy working together and splitting the work
between us, so we could also collaborate and combine ideas to make our sculpture
the best possible.
