INJURY COULD HAVE OCCURRED? WHY?

On October 28 I sports med for Notre Dame High School's Homecoming football game for the Varsity and Freshman
teams. I prepared water bottles and gatorade jugs for the teams and helped get the materials prepared for first aid.
Once we got onto the field, I helped prepare the first aid tent for the athletes. I passed out water bottles throughout
the entirety of both games, shadowing the players the entire time to ensure none of them got dehydrated. However,
during the freshman game, one of the players was pale during most of the game and complained of feeling nauseous.
He was subbed out and given water and gatorade and went back to playing when he said he was feeling better.
However, after playing for a little while, he ran o of the field and proceeded to throw up on the side of the field. He
had not kept himself hydrated throughout the game and had not eaten all day, thus causing his nausea and vomiting.
He went and lay down on the cots for the duration of the game and was given water and something to eat. Had he
continued playing he would have most probably fainted. Furthermore, during the Varsity game, on the last play, one
of the players was tackled and fell down on his ankle incorrectly. He was carted out of the field and to the athletic
training room. It was found that he had broken his ankle and has been wearing a cast since the injury.
