The University of Texas may also consider provisional admission for applicants who score slightly below minimum requirements and require an English proficiency exam to determine if their Graduate English Skills Program must be completed before coursework.

    University of Texas

    TOEFL iBT total score of 79 with sectional scores that meet or exceed 22 for the writing
    section, 21 for the speaking section, 20 for the reading section, and 16 for the listening
    section to meet this requirement. This requirement is waived for applicants who have
    earned a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university.
    International applicants that score slightly below minimum acceptable levels on the
    verbal portion of entrance examinations may be considered for provisional admission
    with an English proficiency condition. This condition stipulates that they must take an
    English proficiency exam. Based on their performance on this exam, the may be required
    to complete UT Arlingtons Graduate English Skills Program prior to beginning graduate
    course work.
