7.Rose Joint locking nut

1. Screw Rose Joint & Gear Shaft onto

the mounting tube.

2. Fit bottom tube to fork end with bolt and

washers - 1 each side and put the nut on hand
tight.

3. Fit one end of the spider to the gear box. Then mounting tube to gear box using longer bolt to the front,
just fitting them hand tight at this stage.
4. Fit bottom tube to spider. The angle of 90 degrees should be on mounting tube and gear shaft when out
of gear. If this is not, remove from gearbox and screw rose joint in or out to get the correct angle.

5. When this is correct, tighten the 4 gearbox bolts up and the rose
joint locking nut up.
Tighten the Fork end nut and bolt up, not too tight as to lock the
fork end to stop it moving.
Also make sure that the clips are in the spider correctly.

FITTING THE HOOD

FITTING SUMMARY:
1: The two piece hood frame is erected.
2: Fasteners are placed on the front of the windowscreen frame, front of the hood and fastened.
3: The Hood is pulled over the frame and temporarily fixed with parcel tape.
4: The sidescreens are fitted.
5: The Hood is finally pulled tight.
6: The press-studs are fitted.
1: THE TWO PIECE HOOD FRAME IS ERECTED:
Lay the two frames (smaller inside bigger) on the floor, mark and drill through both frames about
above the end of the shortest leg on both sides, put a bolt through so that they pivot. Offer up the frame
to the car, it should fit level with the outside of the rear body section. Note where the legs of the frame
finish fix the frame fixing brackets in these areas so that they can fit a bolt through to allow the hood
frame to pivot. The frame fixing brackets should be fitted onto the metal work (top of body side) underneath the GRP wing. When the frame is erected the smaller inner frame tilts backwards with the larger
frame tilting forward. The four corners of the frame should line up approximately with the tucks in the
hood, this is preferable but not essential. The bolsters supplied should be pop riveted onto the front
hood frame, place them so that they correspond with the outside of the rear centre window (fix the pop
rivets to the front face of the frame so that they do not show through the hood top). The back frame is
not pop riveted on yet, fix this finally when you are satisfied with the position so that every time the
frame is erected it is in the same position.
2: FASTENERS ARE PLACED ON TO THE FRONT OF THE WINDSCREEN FRAME AND HOOD
AND FASTENED.
Fix seven buttons onto front of the hood spacing them out evenly; fix also to the windscreen frame in the
appropriate positions, do not drill into the glass, ensure that self-tapping screws are not too long and
grind off the point if necessary.
3: THE HOOD IS PULLED OVER THE FRAME & TEMPORARILY FIXED WITH TAPE.
Fasten the hood to the windscreen and drape over the frame. Adjust the frame if necessary and using
plenty of parcel tape, pull into position.
4: THE SIDESCREENS ARE FITTED.
Assess hinges and mark O/S and N/S, the pinned half goes onto the side screen and the other half goes
onto the windscreen pillar behind the screen. Spend a little time assessing these, do not mix them up,
obviously the pins point downwards so that the side screens can be lifted off. With the hinge assembled,
fastened onto the pillar first then fix to the steel frame inside the side screen, bolt on using the bolts and
nuts supplied. The rear of the side screen should touch the rear wing (lightly) allow for a certain amount
of drop. These will now open and close and should press up to the hood gutter. The steel frame can be
bent slightly to follow the contour of the car.

FITTING THE HOOD

5: THE HOOD IS FINALLY PULLED TIGHT.

The hood should be left over night and finally pulled tight again the next day (warm atmosphere is
advantageous). Masking tape should be placed at the top of the rear panel in horizontal strips, these acts
as a guide for the lower rear edge of the hood to pull down too. Lots of tape may be used to keep the
hood in position. Mark the position of the press-studs evenly (about 7 apart) and drill with a 1/8 drill
through the hood material and through the bodywork which will ensure all the holes line up. Pop rivets
are the best fixing for the male press-studs. A backing washer is advantageous when fastening onto the
GRP wing panels.
6: THE PRESS STUDS ARE FITTED.
The remaining press studs can be fitted. The top of the press stud goes on top of the material (on show)
with the stud protruding through the material, onto this stud goes the female part on the other side of
the fabric, with a nail or centre punch, hammer gently to bifurcate the stud over the female part to secure
the two parts together. There is a special tool you can buy for this operation if you require.

Creases in the hood do come out with time or can be steamed out using a kettle.

When not using the hood, fold it carefully trying not to fold the Vyback windows.
Never put the hood away when it is wet.
Keep polishes away when cleaning and wash only in warm soapy water when it is on the car.

DO NOT STORE THE SIDE SCREENS WITH THE WINDOWS NEXT TO EACH OTHER.
