2. As shown in the figure above, a plane wave normally incident on a planar boundary between
two dielectric regions where 1 2 has incident, reflected, and transmitted electric fields,
Ei = E0e jk1z y , Er E0e jk1z y , Et 2 E0e jk2 z y . Notice that the amplitude of the transmitted
electric field is higher than that of the incident field.
(a) Show that the boundary conditions for the tangential electric field are satisfied.
(b) Find the incident, reflected and transmitted magnetic fields using Maxwells
equations of the short forms
(c) Show that power is conserved across the boundary.

3. A uniform sinusoidal plane wave in air with the electric intensity i ( x, y ) = 5e j (3 x + 4 z ) y
