Final Essay Assignment

A cow has an easy life compared to the characters in both The R
oad and Insurgent.
They not only have to survive but any choice they make not only affect them but others as well.
They can have deadly results. If a cow wants to eat some grass he can. If he eats the grass in
an area with little to no grass then the cows that are with him would starve. Cormacs The Road
and Roths Insurgent illustrates that every choice you make has a reaction or consequence that
not only affects you but others.

Lots of choices are made in both books.

In The Road the man and boy must make lots
choices in order for themselves to survive. In one part on page 66 the man had to shoot a man
to protect the boy. The choices characters make arent only big ones but small ones too. In

Insurgent it says I came here so that no one else would die(Roth 337). Tris volunteered
herself so Jeanine would stop killing people to get ahold of all the divergents. Tris didnt have to
go to Erudite but she did anyway and her choice was to protect other people.

Every choice made has a consequence or a reaction. An

on page 66. The man had to shoot another guy to protect the boy. Because the man shot the
other guy the man and boy had to run away from that area. They lost supplies because when
they ran away they didnt have their cart. This is not a negotiation. It is a warning...Every two

days until one of you delivers yourself to Erudite headquarters, this will happen again (Roth
299). In Insurgent Jeanine wanted all the divergent so she killed people because she didnt
have all of them. Part of her plan was controlling people with simulations which enables them to
control the people that are under them.

In my 14 years on this planet Ive made lots of choices such as attempting to dye all my

hair purple in seventh grade. The dye didnt dye my whole hair. Some parts were orange while
others were blonde and light pink. My mom wasnt happy about that and she was the one who
dyed my hair. Her glove ripped and her hand was dyed purple because of the tear. Another
choice I made was to join the Rantoul High School tennis team and that turned out great.
Joining the team led to some great new things and my mom was very happy about my choice.

Every choice you make has

a consequence or reaction and Cormacs The Road and
Roths Insurgent illustrates that. The choices they made didnt go without a consequence or
reaction and they affected others. Tris decision with going to Erudite led to less people dying.
Cows wouldnt have to worry about any of the situations the characters were put in because
theyre just cows. Cows wouldnt shoot a man to protect a child thats their son.
