Testing Tips for Teachers

BEFORE THE TEST


Explain to students the purpose for testing.
Ensure the testing room has been prepared for testing by removing or
covering up all instructional materials.
Review and plan for test accommodations for students who require
them per their IEP or Section 504 Plan.
Arrange for a quiet actiity for students who finish testing early. This
activity should not be the same subject as what is being tested.

DURING THE TEST


Ensure that all non-approved electronic device are put away.
Make sure all students have the correct test booklet and materials.
Ensure that all students are tested under the same conditions by stirctly
adhering to the script for admnistering the test.
Monitor students progress on marking answers.
Circulate through the room to ensure that all conditions of test security
are being maintained.

AFTER THE TEST


Collect and account for all testing booklets and manuals.
Document any absent students and arrange for them to make-up tests.
Ensure all testing booklets and material are stored in a secured location.
