REFLECTION OF RHETORICAL ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT

The rhetorical analysis assignment states that the articles have to be compared and contrasted.
The efficiency of the articles has to be evaluated. The evaluation includes how well the authors
got their point across and what literary devices they used. I think it could show difficulty to
define which of the articles is better because of the concepts they touch upon, but I have to
remain focused and remind myself that it is not the content that is being evaluated. The focus of
evaluation is the use of literary devices and how well they support the authors thesis. The
evaluation of pathos, ethos, and logos is the focus of the assignment. I have to demonstrate that
one is weaker than the other because of the imbalance of these components. I have to identify the
authors intentions and how well they get them across throughout their articles. I also have to
identify the audience that the authors are gearing their writing towards. I have to identify the
strength of the authors thesis if it provides a good skeletal basis for the article and how well the
author revolved around their goal which is their thesis. Overall, I feel that this assignment will be
hard to complete and will show difficulties when it comes to identifying specific audience types
and weaknesses of both articles.
