This memorandum will be broken down into four parts. The first part will cover what each job
requires, and how I am or will be qualified for it. The second part is going to deal with how my
top two preferences has similar positive aspects. The third part will compare and contrast how I
would approach the resume and cover letter process for each company, and which company I
prefer. The fourth and final part will show how I will be qualified for the job, and how I would
be an asset to the company.


Part 1

After searching for some time, I have come across five different positions that suite my
interests quite well. Below will show what each company requires and desires, and how I am
qualified for each one.

Company: Greeley Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics (Pacific Dental Services)
Job title: Registered Dental Hygienist (Full-time)
Requirements: MS in hygiene/degree or certification for hygiene from an accredited college or
technical school or equivalent. Commitment to continuing education for hygiene and dentistry.
Responsibilities: Perform scaling and root planing, prepare patients for oral examinations,
educate patients on dental hygiene.
Personal Qualifications: After I complete my associates at Lake Superior College, I will have my
degree as required per the jobs ad. I will also be thoroughly trained in all manners required to
carry out a dental hygienist duty.

Company: Crestline Dental Group and Orthodontics (Pacific Dental Services)
Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist (Full-time)
Requirements: MS in hygiene/degree or certification for hygiene from an accredited college or
technical school or equivalent. Commitment to continuing education for hygiene and dentistry.
Responsibilities: Perform SRPs, prepare patients for oral examinations, educate patients on
dental hygiene.
Personal Qualifications: After I complete my associates at Lake Superior College, I will have my
degree as required per the jobs ad. I will also be thoroughly trained in all manners required to
carry out a dental hygienist duty.

Company: Ray Dental
Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist (Part-time)
Requirements: A license or certificate in Dental Hygiene.

degree as required per the jobs ad. I will also be thoroughly trained in all manners required to
carry out a dental hygienist duty.

Company: Health District of Northern Larimer County
Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist (Part-time, Temporary)
Requirements: Colorado dental hygiene license, and local anesthesia certification
Responsibilities: Prophylaxis, debridement scaling and root planing
Desired: Bilingual, experienced in hygiene, familiar with Dentrix
Personal Qualifications: After I complete my associates at Lake Superior College, I will have my
degree as required per the jobs ad. I will also be thoroughly trained in all manners required to
carry out a dental hygienist duty. I will get both my hygiene license and local anesthesia in
Colorado.

Company: Heartland Dental
Job Title: Registered Dental Hygienist (Full-time)
Requirements: Dental Hygienist license in Colorado, associates degree in Dental Hygiene, and a
CPR certification.
Responsibilities: Prepare dental equipment and instruments, excellent knowledge of overall
dentistry procedures, leadership skills
Desired: Experience with Dentrix, Velscope, and electronic medical records
Personal Qualifications: After I complete my associates at Lake Superior College, I will have my
degree as required per the jobs ad. I will also be thoroughly trained in all manners required to
carry out a dental hygienist duty. I will get both my hygiene license and CPR certification in
Colorado.

Part 2

The top two jobs that I prefer are with Greeley Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics (Pacific
Dental Services) and Heartland Dental. The table will show some positive information about
each company, and why I find it important.

Part 3

Writing a cover letter and Resume for both companies chosen in part two will be similar. Both
dental offices are part of fast growing dental supported organizations, Pacific Dental and
Heartland. For the resume portion the qualifications required would be the same, so the
resume would be the same for both jobs. The cover letter would be very similar. I would focus
more on teamwork and my background in the military since the ad is focused on positive
environment and strong teamwork for Pacific Dental. If I were going applying to the Heartland
job, I would be a little more formal, focus on the potential for personal growth in the future.

My preferred choice is Greeley Modern Dentistry and Orthodontics. The table is a simple profile
of the company that makes it relevant to me.

I would be an asset to the team for my experience as an assistant and training as a hygienist. I
would be flexible and willing to help out in any area needed. I also have experience in working
with the sterilization equipment, so I would be a jack of all trades. As an assistant in the
military, I became efficient at providing radiographs, charting dental examinations, minor
experience with scaling and root planning, and educating patients about dental health and
hygiene. For six years I worked as an assistant, I got plenty of relevant experience that already
make me clinic ready. Working in multiple dental facilities, I have the experience to adapt to
change, and work with various software. While in the military, I received hands on experience
and training with scaling teeth for two years. Going to school helped me refine my skills, I
would be beneficial to any dental clinic.


The memorandum covered the process of researching for a job. I believe its objective was not
only to highlight the importance of what type of job you are looking for, but to know who you
are applying to work for. If you just randomly apply to any place, you may find yourself in
unfavorable positions. That would not be good for you or your future employers.

to finishing my educational requirements for the job.

I will earn an Associate of Applied Science for Registered Dental Hygienist upon graduation
from Lake Superior College in December 2016. Following graduation, I will immediately begin
the necessary work to get a hygienist license in Colorado.

I have plenty of relevant dental experience from my time as a dental technician in the United
States Navy. I am experienced with giving radiographs, charting records, making and maintain
the patient schedules, sterilizing equipment, and turning rooms over. During the final years of
military service, I received training from different dental hygienist on how to do scaling and root
planing. I performed dental cleanings for two years, doing about 6 cleanings a day. As you can
see, I have the hands on experience as a dental hygienist. Add that to the training I received
from Lake Superior College, I am ready to provide a positive impact to your organization. I have
worked with both small and large dental departments. I know the importance that teamwork
has with getting the job done.
