Re: Nick Austin

I am writing this letter in support of Nick Austin. As a teacher and football coach at St. Joan of
Arc High School, I first met Nick when he joined the St. Joan of Arc football program in
September 2011, his grade nine year. During his time at St. Joan of Arc, Nick was amongst the
schools finest student-athletes.
Academically, Nick excelled at St. Joan of Arc. Nick completed grades 9 through 11 on the
schools Honour Roll (80% or higher). In his grade 12 year, Nick graduated as an Ontario
Scholar (80 % or higher). Nick was able to balance his academic achievement with extensive
involvement in the athletics program (football and baseball) at St. Joan of Arc. It should also be
noted that Nick was able to maintain his academic results while playing minor hockey in Barrie.
Athletically, Nick was a talented contributor to the successful football program at St. Joan of Arc.
Nick was an outstanding player who was also a leader and role model for his peers. Nick was a
very disciplined team member who was well-liked and respected by his teammates and coaches
alike. Nicks outstanding football accomplishments include: the defensive MVP award in grade
10, valued team member of the schools first provincial championship (OFSAA) in his grade 11
season and a provincial finalist in his grade 12 season.
Nick is a civic-minded person who believes strongly in the spirit of volunteerism. During his
time at St. Joan of Arc, Nick was a prominent member of the Nicaragua Leadership program and
mission trip in his grade 12 year. Participants in this program are specifically chosen based
demonstrated leadership, discipline and character within our school community. Nick was also
an active member of the Knights Peer Mentor program during his time at St. Joan of Arc.
Nicks enjoyable personality, sense of humour, strong character, and self-discipline are positive
attributes that make him an ideal candidate for your organization. I would be delighted to provide
