National Examination

Talking about national examination, some people disagree about the idea of it.
They thought that it should be banned for some reasons. The first reason that I agree
with is students success in learning should be measured from what they have learned
and their learning process, not by specific test. Second, national examination only takes
a cognitive aspect while in education there are three aspects, cognitive, affective and
psychomotor. Like Albert Einstein said Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish
by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. The
potential and character of Indonesian students are not the same, they have their own
abilities beside the subject that tested in the exam which is different depending on
themselves. For example, students who are talented in music and art. School facilities
and infrastructure also affecting the differences that is formed. From economics aspect,
national examination needs so much cost. The cost that APBN gives to UN increase in
every years. It also gives the students more pressure and stress. Last, Leakage and
cheating always happens in National Exam. It is being a public secret that there are so
many students who already know the answer key before the examination started. It is so
unfair among other student that spend their time to prepare for the exams. It also cause
of losing a motivation to study.
In other way, I thought national examination Exams should not be banned as it
provides a competitive spirit for the student. This era is a competitive era so students
should be properly trained from schools to face these big competitions. The affirmative
side also said that exams bring levels of stress, which can lead to damage their
psychological health. But this is wrong because there are many different ways which
stress can be erased, whether it is relaxation, seeking help from a teacher or trusted
adult, or even controlling the stress into motivation. The most important thing for me is
the students will lose interest in studying because they'll have nothing to work hard for.
There will be no competition among students. Students will not be able to identify their
flaws and work towards it. Therefore their academic ability will decrease. There are
some tests that need some work to make them fairer. However, banning all exams would
only do damage to the students.
