Mr. Brennan;
Jesse Mann is presently my student teacher at St. Thomas High School. Jesse arrived in September and
will end this, his last stage, on November 25th. I have thus observed, mentored, and cooperated with
Jesse for 2 months and I can confidently say that he is a very capable teacher, an effective and
cooperative team member, and a pleasant and thoughtful colleague.
Jesse is ready to teach and substitute. He has a strong presence in the classroom. He is knowledgeable,
well organized, respectful and considerate of diverse students, and understands our educational system
well. I have observed Jesse teaching both pre-prepared lessons, which he was able to follow very well,
as well as his own lessons, which are complete and well rounded. He is versed in differentiation as well
as in dealing with students in a manner that is non-confrontational and thoughtful. He naturally seeks to
make a connection with each student and class.
As a work partner at the departmental and whole-school level, Jesse took no time to find a way to
contribute (he runs a juggling club for juniors 1/6 at lunch, attends extra-curricular events to meet
students outside of the class environment, and is a contributing member in staff, departmental, and IEP
meetings). Jesse has a team-oriented personality and is therefore easy to work with on units and on
solving student issues. He responds well to constructive criticism and is keen to improve in this
profession.
Finally, Jesse is a considerate, thoughtful, respectful and pleasant colleague who is comfortable in social
situations and makes friends easily. It has been a pleasure having Jesse as a member of our Social
Studies department and, of the school community in general. I feel very strongly that Jesse will continue
to make contributions to our LBPSB community given the change to substitute and teach in the board.
My recommendation of Jesse Mann is most strong.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Joanna Schreyer, B.A., B.Ed, M.A.
