Standard #3: Learning Environments The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and selfmotivation. Name of Artifact: Service Learning Reflection Date: April 13th, 2016 Course: EDUC 101 Brief Description: For my Introduction to Teaching class, we were to observe and teach in a classroom setting. We were able to choose the school, and the grade of our choice. At the end of this eight week process, we were asked to write a reflection about what all we observed, and how we felt at the end.
Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #3, Learning Environments, I chose to
volunteer in Jocelyn Taylors first grade classroom at Harney Elementary School in Lebanon, Indiana. While observing the first couple weeks, and then jumping into teaching alongside Mrs. Taylor, showed how important teamwork is, not just between her and I, but the students as well. Jocelyn makes sure her classroom is a positive place for students to learn, and she also made sure I understood how positivity is important for her students educational foundation.
