2. Propose a viable solution for the nomination of a new president for SUJI-INS.

We strongly believe that the president of INS should insist on the matter because being a joint venture, it
is unacceptable to impose inefficient Japanese standards on the commonly owed company. The most
important thing in here is to make the Suji management understand the implications of choosing Mr.
Satoh as president on the expansionary objective of the joint venture. It is indeed a normal practice in the
Japanese culture but looking the other way around, the American practices did not failed, on the contrary
it made from USA the most prominent nation in the world and also the success of Japan was consequence
of its openness so it should also be more receptive, more open to the idea of innovation. But what is
missing in this case is a professional intermediary. Mr. Rose is not suitable for the job because of its
incapability to adapt and to develop a relationship with the Japanese management. Hence, Mr. Flynn
should find a replacement for him, a person more attached to the Japanese culture and able to easily speak
their language in order to offer the Japanese management a sense of importance and respect. What the
new vice president should be able to do is to gain the confidence and respect of the Japanese
management, so that finally he would be able to convince the Japanese management of the importance of
choosing the best suited president, and giving up their old practice that would harm their common
objectives. During the meeting of Mr. Flynn with the Japanese management, he should show interest in
their judgement and the willingness to make a compromise only for the best of Suji-Ins company.
