Promethean Planet Assignment
The name of the lesson that I chose is called Arthur. This lesson can be found at the
URL: http://www.prometheanplanet.com/en-us/Resources/Item/30723/arthur#.V9q0zxSnVD0.
The subject area of this lesson is Lessons and Instructional Materials. I searched for
English/Language Arts, specifically the reading standards, and was given many examples for
grades K-2. I chose to look at the second grade lessons. Based off of the Arkansas curriculum
framework and standards of Reading on-level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and
expression on successive readings, I found the Arthur activity. This activity provides a flipchart
that introduces Arthur to the students. When flipping through the book, students will find
activities where they match characters to names and learn about Marc Brown, the author. They
also see some of the books he has written about Arthur. This lesson fits into the curriculum
because it is something that will enable children to practice with successive reading, as well as
be interactive and help them to read the names of the different characters out loud.
