Dear President,
As a daughter of a two-time brain cancer survivor, I feel that we should find a way to get
brain cancer cured. Having my mom around is a miracle. I want everyone to feel that way. We
should give more money to scientists for brain cancer research; that way people can still have
their friends and family members around. Brain cancer is a big problem. It affects everyone who
has, has had, or will have brain cancer. Scientists are looking for around $5.44 billion so they can
have a better chance of finding a cure. If they are wanting that much money, it must be a big
problem, There are 700,000 people in the US that have brain cancer. With this many people
affected, it is very dangerous. The survival rate of brain cancer is only 34.2%. This is too low
and something needs to be done so there can be a higher rate of survival in the future
Organizations like the American Brain Tumor Association are looking for a change. Please
President, help make this change because | almost lost my mom to brain cancer twice.
Brain cancer researchers should be funded more money because it is one of the most
deadly diseases in the world. Diseases like this should be funded to find a cure and prevention. It
is predicted that around 69,000 people will be diagnosed with brain cancer this year alone. That
will add up over time. So many lives will be changed, and we need to stop that from happening.
Scientists would use the money they get for observing cancer cells, medicines for cures and
preventions, and animal testing. This would help so many people.
To solve this problem, we should use money from things that are not as important like
building places we do not need. This would help solve the problem because researchers would
get the information they need. Scientists at Duke University and John Hopkins University are
trying to find answers about brain cancer. If we use money for more important things, then wehave a better chance of finding a solution. Scientist still do not know the cause of brain
cancer. We need to help give scientists money so they can find causes and cures.
So much money goes toward breast cancer research, but brain cancer is important too.
Breast cancer
donated to more because it is better known. Brain cancer needs to be talked
about because it is a very big issue. People will know more about it if we make more events to
recognize brain cancer. Quite a few celebrities have had brain cancer like Cheryl Crowe and
‘cott Hamilton. They agree that brain cancer needs to be stopped. Brain cancer can spread to
other body parts as well and seriously put someone in danger. Things like this need to be known
all around the world. Then, there will be a better chance of finding answers.
‘Some would argue that brain cancer does not affect enough people, or that the money
could be used for something else. I understand what they mean, but when you see a family
member fighting for their life, your mind will change. Some people do not agree with animal
testing, but itis one of the only ways to test new medications that can save lives. My mom was a
lucky one. There need to be more lucky ones in the future.
‘We should get brain cancer cured. We will raise awareness to help save many lives. If the
scientists get what they need, they might be able to find answers about brain cancer causes,
treatments, and vaccines. Please try to get this problem solved so brain cancer will never be a
problem again,
Sincerely,

Every fifleen minutes, somebody commits suicide. Suicide takes the lives of one million
people every year. For every suicide, there is twenty people attempting to kill themselves. Suicide
puts a permanent end to a sometimes temporary problem. People who are suicidal don't always
know that there is people who are willing to help them, Suicidal people don't always know that
they will overcome whatever problem they are experiencing, but if we work together, and give
these people a hand, then we can really put suicide to a stop.
The typical age range for people who commit suicide are ages fifteen to nineteen for
teenagers and ages twenty to twenty-four for young adults. Usually when a teenager commits
suicide it is because of stress, depression,or pressure. Some usual causes for suicide in young
adults are substance abuse, access to guns,self-harm,or the stress of transitioning into adulthood.
‘One cause that both teenagers and young adults share is that people do not know what they are
going through. That is why we should bring attention to this subject.
Bringing awareness to suicide would be a major help in preventing it. Doing things like
‘National Suicide Awareness Day or National Mental Illness Awareness Day can really help
people learn more about suicide. Another way we can help bring down suicide numbers is lower
the price on antidepressants. Some people rely on these medications and if they can’t afford them
then something bad may happen. We can also raise money for mental health research. Mental
illnesses are sometimes a cause of suicide.
Doing things like National Suicide Awareness Day would let people who are thinking of
committing suicide know that they are not alone and that there is somebody that is willing to
help them. And lowering the price of antidepressants would help many people who are in needbut can not afford these medications. And lastly, raising money to donate to mental health
research is a very important step in preventing suicide,
Some people might argue that people who threaten to commit suicide are just doing it for
attention. However, people who commit suicide are often suffering from
grief, abuse,remorse,rejection,ilIness, bullying,or a bad relationship. And that's just naming a few.
If someone were to say that people just say they have suicidal thoughts so they can get
attention,we could tell them that suicid
isn't something you just joke about or toss it around like
it means nothing.
Suicide might take many people's lives, but it is not unstoppable. And if we just work
together, suicide can be gone all together. If we donate to research, raise awareness, lower
‘medication prices, and just help these people with these suicidal thoughts out,we will be doing the
world a great favor.

Gracie ChathamDear President,
Did you know that 55% of the terminally ill die in pain, when there could have been a
way to end their suffering? If someone with a terminal illness is suffering and can’t do anything
but sit and wait for their death, they should have the option to have a quick, painless, and
dignified death which is euthanasia. 56% of doctors support euthanasia as a way for the
terminally ill to end their suffering. Poor medicinal resources is something that causes people to
call for euthanasia, so that’s a problem that should be addressed as well. If someone who is
terminally ill isin so much pain that the medicines don’t work and they just want to end it, then
euthanasia should definitely be an option.
If someone who is terminally ill and in a great deal of pain, no one would want to just
watch them fade away and die while suffering. It wouldn’t be fair to the person with the illness
for them to just have to suffer with no way to ease the pain. Although there is medicine that helps
cease the pain, fairly often it barely helps ease their unbearable pain. Anyone with emotion and
feeling knows that it’s not right for someone to just sit, suffer, and wait for death when they
could have ending their suffering through euthanasia.
Euthanasi
is a good idea because the terminally ill should have the right to end their
extreme pain and suffering with dignity and no pain. Dr. Jack Kevorkian, a euthanasia activist,
‘gave over 130 people the choice to end their suffering through euthanasia, and many people
consider him a hero. Euthanasia should be legal in the U.S. because it’s good for the people
suffering and it’s already legal in places like Belgium and Switzerland, where it’s not very
common but people still have the choice, so it’s unlikely that a drastic number of people wouldask for it on a daily basis. There should be more access to euthanasia drugs for patients with
terminal illnesses.
Some would argue that cuthanasia is against morals and the fact that doctors are supposed
to above all keep the patient alive. It's more fair to the patient to have the choice to end their life
quickly and painlessly if they're terminally ill and in extreme pain. Others would argue some
would step over the line and not give them the choice and euthanize them anyway. Although
that's possible, only highly respected doctors who are known for their good judgment would be
allowed to use euthanasia, Doctors should have to get a euthanasia license to perform the
operation. I hope you make the right choice for the good of the United States.
Sincerely,
Joshua Bozeman
