McAllen elementary school among Americas Healthiest Schools by: May Ortega on

A school in the McAllen Independent School District school was given national gold
status for being healthy and recognized in USA Today. One of fourteen schools that
earned this level place, Bianca E. Sanchez Elementary School is considered one of
Americas healthiest schools. Along with this, in McAllens Independent School district,
all thirty-two of their eligible schools earned the National Healthy Schools Award.
Sanchez Elementary was the only one to win gold. The superintendent of McAllen
Independent School District, J. A. Gonzalez states, We believe healthy children make
for better learners. Children who grow up with healthy habits will lead more productive
lives and enjoy a greater quality of life.
