Importance
of
vaccina:ng

Immunizing can be the dierence between life and death.

Knowing the facts about immuniza:ons can most
denitely be the dierence between life and death. I know
that It is vital that we do all we can to educate everyone
about the facts in regards to vaccines.

I know that Immuniza:ons have helped our society

eradicate many diseases in the United States.
Furthermore, I also know that vaccines have impacted
the world immensely!

 For example, I read about an unfortunate

event that happened in Spain last year.

The parents of a Pau, 6-year-old boy are devastated,

because their son passed away from a preventable
disease.

Pau and his family were enjoying their life together in

Spain and before they knew it, they were no longer
living a fairy tale. In May 2015, Pau began to be ill
and ended up being hospitalized.

Pau was most likely experiencing the following

symptoms weakness, sore throat, fever, and swollen
glands in the neck (Diphtheria.15 Jan. 2016). Many
tests were performed and the results veried that Pau
was sick with Diphtheria.

Paus family was shocked to hear this news especially

considering the fact that the en:re country of Spain
hadnt had a recorded case of the disease since 1987(F,
Cur:s, 30, June 2015). Unfortunately Paus parents
choice not to vaccinate resulted in the death of their
son.

Learning of this, my heart sank and it has inuenced my

decision in suppor:ng everyone to be vaccinated. The
fact that these illness caused the death of Pau, has
made me do all I can to educate others about the
consequences of our choices.

This event has touched my heart in a way that I

want to help prevent any more cases of
someone dying from a preventable disease.

I have a hard :me when people do not want to vaccinate

because I know that if too many make this decision then the
preventable illnesses will return and kill many in the future.
These events strengthen my desire to care for those who are
sick and do all that I can to help others to stay healthy.
