Course Objectives
Due to the impact of intemationalisation, contemporary issues regarding human resource management
can no longer be viewed solely from the domestic perspective. A more dynamic and international
proach towards the subject is needed. This course aims not only at providing students with an
in-depth understanding of the current issues related to intemational human resources management
(IHRM), but also to equip students with skills that can be used to formulate sound IHRM strategies and
to implement them effectively
Course Contents
|n general, there are three main approaches that can be employed in studying the subject of IHRM,
namely, the cross-cultural management approach, comparative human resource management and
human resource management in the multinational context. Although much attention will be paid to the
latter on the course, key issues that relate to cross-cultural management and comparative human
resource management will also be incorporated. In so doing, a more balanced view towards the subject
will be achieved
