Document 1 5. Conservation management support: The provision of $5 million over four years fo assist the ‘Tasmanian Government with the management of new conservation arcias arising from the settlement is based on: * existing annual payment of $3.6 million to support the management of the Tasmanian World Heritage Area (over a total land area of approximately 1.4 million CABINET-IN-CONFIDENCE ‘+ the expectation that the Commonwealth and Tasmanian government will in due course jointly nominate specific new conservation areas contained within the high conservation ‘value forest area nominated by the environment NGOs to the Tasmanian World Heritage ‘Area; and ‘a manageable commitment from the Caring for our Country program, noting the likelihood ‘that costs will be modest initially and progressively increase as new areas are transferred into the conservation estate, Risks: The Tasmanian Government's expectation for the Commonwealth to fund all new ‘management costs in full and in-perpetuity.
