REGULATION (EC) No 443/2009 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF


THE COUNCIL of 23 April 2009 setting emission performance standards for new passenger
cars as part of the Community's integrated approach to reduce CO 2 emissions from light-duty
vehicles
The Regulation No 443/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council has the
objective of reducing the Co2 emissions from light-duty cars without harming the internal
market.
The Regulation is supporting the ideas of new technologies and promoting ecoinnovation and its target is that from 2020 onwards, the gas emissions to be at a limit of
95g of CO2/km. (measure according to the Regulation No 715/2007 and Annex XII to
Regulation No 692/2008)
One the important characteristics of the regulation it is its support for technological
innovations and the push that the manufacturers receive to improve their product to be
accepted on the market.
