Dear Dr. Denton:
I am writing to ask you for your participation in the truth initiative campaign. The Truth Initiative
empowers individuals and organizations to lead their community in an effort to stop tobacco use
on college campuses by sharing all the ways tobacco use can impact the community and
themselves. Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in the U.S. As the largest
non-profit dedicated to ending tobacco use, we seek to stop that. We train future leaders to help
end tobaccos influence, on high school and college students.
We need the help and support of our surrounding Blacksburg community. We want an
opportunity to work with the public relations campaigns class to develop a campaign that
promotes the truth initiative in the Blacksburg community. We are asking for your assistance in
setting up a meeting with the faculty teaching the course.
Our goal is that we teach the class about the truth initiative in order for them to aid us in
empowering the community to join the campaign. I will be in Blacksburg Thursday, December 1
and 2 if you are available to meet and discuss this opportunity further.
