Rhetorical Knowledge Students should be able to understand how things like genre and audience affect writing and should recognize when those techniques are being used. Critical Reading Students should be able to analyze and evaluate a piece of writing for its content, reliability and rhetorical devices. Composing Process Students should be able to apply different composition strategies for maximum effectiveness, recognize the value of working with others to improve a work, and use writing as a tool to develop deeper understand of a subject. Knowledge of Conventions Students should be able to use grammar and punctuation in the genre of the piece they decide to write in. Critical Reflection Students should be able to think about their own writing and explain why they made certain choices in their writing. They should be able to take feedback and constructive criticism.
