(A) INTRODUCTION The word, “Adjustment’ means to it oneself or to bring oneself to proper state or position in any field of life. Therefore, the word adjustment means the extent to which an individual’s personality functions efficiently in the society. The word “Academic performance” means knowledge understanding or skills acquired after instructions and training in courses or subject of study. There maybe a wide variety of individual differences in the adjustment and academic achievement of students when the effect of factors like sex, father’s occupations mother’s occupations, family system, family size and culture etek There is a great impact of parent on the personality of the adolescents. More so, if the parents are working, their nature of occupation also influence them, their behaviour and wr a (B) achievement etc. highly educated parents take care of every ase of the adolescent’s life including health, education, emotions etc. They can know the importance of education for their children. Keeping in view the importance of study, the present problem was undertaken at M.Ed. Level. AIMS OF THE STUDY 1. To identify students with their fathers in different occupational groups (professional, semi- professional and non- professional). 2. To identify students with their mothers in different occupational groups (professional, semi- professional non- professional). 3, To find out the significance of difference between mean adjustment and mean academic achievement scores of students with their fathers in professional, semi- professional groups respectively. 4. To find out the significance of difference between mean adjustment and mean academic achievement scores of students with their fathers in semi- professional and non- professional groups respectively. 56 5.
