ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA AND RESULT

In this experiment we are asked to determine the rate of discharge of a

Sharp-Crested Weir with 0.0898 meter length of the crest and a height of 0.1265

meters.

By the help of the same apparatuses used in the recent experiment, 0.0235

meters was measured for the height of the upstream free surface above the crest of

the weir. On the final tabulation of data, it can be observed that there still minimal

differences on the calculated coefficient of discharge in every trial, but it can be

considered small and insignificant. Students error may be a reason for these

similarities and differences. From that case, we can see that there is a significant

difference between the data in calculating the coefficient of discharge. But

everybody should remember that every type of weir has a different value in their

own coefficient of discharge. The experiment can be considered a success because

all the trials does not exceed the 5% margin of error for the rate of discharge.
