COWL NECK PONCHO

SIZE: Adult One Size


Measurements:
- Neck approximately 26 inches (66 cm) around
- From neck to longest length in front and back approximately
26 (66 cm) inches
- Widest part of bodice approximately 34 inches (86 cm)
(For larger / plus sizes, continue adding more rounds after Round
71 until desired size is reached)
MATERIALS:
Size J crochet hook
Worsted weight / medium weight yarn 1100 yds
3 Stitch markers
TERMINOLOGY:
Sc: single crochet
Ch: Chain
Sl St: Slip stitch
St(s): Stitch(es)
BL: back loop
Incr: increase
***Increase stitch is worked by inserting hook through center of
stitch, sc1, ch2, sc1 in same stitch. Insert stitch marker to identify
chain part of each increase
GAUGE: 4 rows and 4 sc's through back loop = 1 inch
NECK
beginning chain of each row counts as first Sc
Row 1: ch 26, Sc in 3rd ch from hook, Sc in next 24
Rows 2 - 98: ch1, turn, Sc in back loop of each st
Do not fasten off at the end of row 98
You will now begin to work in continuous rounds. Place a stitch marker to identify the beginning of each round and the
center/chain of each increase stitch
Fold the neck piece in half with the opening facing to the right hand side, (as shown in image on page 2)

Round 1: Sl St 1 to join and close edge of 1st row, ch 2 (counts as first Sc),
Sc 1 in edge of each row (98 sts)
Round 2: Sc1 through BL of next 24 sts, increase in next, Sc1 in BL of next 48 sts, increase in next, Sc1 through BL of next
24 sts
Rounds 3 - 71: Sc1 through back loop of each St, increase through ch of previous increase
Round 72: Sc through BL of each St. Do not increase through previous rows increase, instead, insert 1 Sc through center
chain of previous increase St
Rounds 73 - 74: sc through BL of each St.
Fasten off at end of round 75, weave in loose threads and trim excess
