ENC 2135 3 October 2016 The Rhetorical Analysis The Picture: Speaker: Environmental Justice Foundation, established in 2000, this group boasts that it is a charitable international organization working to preserve the condition of the environment, as it is a natural human right. The plight of the honeybee is only one of the many messages they advocate for, again taking the spin that if the honeybee dies, one of the largest and most impactful consequences will be human starvation. Message: The message of the picture is relatively simple, that the honeybee is too important for humans to ignore any longer. The one-liner is too short to truly explain why it is that ails the bee, or why it is that they should be given attention, however the site behind the picture does go on to explain this. Without the article, however, this message is devoid of logos appeals. Audience: The picture only refers to the audience as you, however the message of the picture suggests that you is people in general, considering the largest consequence involves a third of the worlds food supply dropping, which would lead to starvation on a global scale. The appeal to this is the honeybee with the humanoid face and a smile, drawing the audience to feel related to the honeybee depicted. Were the picture of a
cartoon bee-head, it would make the image far more daunting and without the ability for people to relate.
