It is facing new challenges, new problems and hazards, which come up due to erosion of centuries old values. AIDS is acondition in which the Immune System of body gets broken down leaving the body vulnerable to all other infections, so AIDS is caused by a virus called HIV. This virus attacks and over time destroys the body’s immune system. ‘The presence of HIV virus in the body means that the person has HIV infection, where in the person may or may not have symptoms, but a person has AIDS when the virus has done enough damage to the immune system to allow the infections and concern to develop, ie., symptoms come up. These infections, concerns etc. , make the person ill and led to his/her death. Thus AIDS is terminal stage of HIV 50 infection, It affects people of all ages, doesn’t have a cure and threaten the lives of more people each year. People get AIDS by having unprotected sex, sharing HIV contaminated needles by intaneous drug uses or from HIV infected mother to child. Till today, there is neither cure for AIDS nor any vaccine to prevent it but basic information about HIV/AIDS should be given to each and every person because prevention is the only cure in getting rid of AIDS.
