When reading the article I thought it was going to be a boring read, but after reading it I
have thought about my own handwriting a lot. The Article says that young kids who couldnt
read or write yet were shown a letter and asked to reproduce the letter they were shown in one of
three ways. After the study was done the results were that the children who attempted to free
draw the letter they were given actually used more brain power than those who traced the letter
of typed it on the computer. I believe that handwriting is extremely important, they even stated in
the article that it has been researched and proven that students who take hand written notes
instead of on the computer end up processing and retaining the information better. I also found it
interesting that they suggested that you use different parts of your brain when reading cursive
and print. I personally have always taken notes by hand because I am able to remember them
better than simply pressing keys on the computer. So after reading this article I have been
persuaded to keep taking my notes by hand and avoiding the use of a computer for notes. I think
if you really need the notes on the computer it would be best to handwrite the notes in class first
then transfer them onto the computer when you have time.
No I would not use the everyday writer in my research paper because when using sources
I already cross examine them with other information. I also only pick sources that are known for
their credibility so that I have a valid source for any type of paper I do that requires at least one
outside source. Although if I wasnt sure on a source I would use it for the accuracy and
credentials.
