Writing Prompt #4
The more colorful/interesting family member I am going to explore is my father, Chris
Crusan. He is one of two relatives on his side that I will be able to make contact with aside from
his brother, Lloyd Crusan. Dad grew up in New York and moved to Elon, North Carolina to
attend Elon College. I am choosing to explore my dad because everyone on my moms side of
my family through the fourth generation grew up in Burlington, North Carolina where I was
born. While I have relatives that have been in wars and been in exciting events, I am going to
research my dads side of the family because they currently live all around the country and are
from New York.

I was never able to meet my grandfather because he had an extreme case of Alzheimers. In the
years that I was old enough to know that I was seeing my grandfather, he wasnt the man he was
before he had been taken by Alzheimers disease. He couldnt identify or remember any
people, he was often grumpy and angry because he couldnt remember anyone or anything
(The Crusan Family). My grandfather was a sergeant in the infantry at the Guadal Canal
overseas in Japan. While in the military my grandfather was awarded two Navy Crosses For
extraordinary heroism while serving and contributed materially to the success of his company
in capturing a vital objective (United States., Navy).
My father is six feet and one inches tall, about 225 pounds with grey hair that is still able
to be made in the morning. Dad is typically wearing something that says University of
Michigan, Go Blue or something that is colored in maize and blue. Dad is a fifty-four-yearold physical therapist who is in love with his career. Our two dogs at home are always there
